Roller chain is mainly composed of inner chain plate, outer chain plate, pin shaft, sleeve and roller.
Composition and structure of roller chain:
The outer chain plate and the pin shaft, the inner chain plate and the sleeve are respectively connected by interference fit. The clearance between the sleeve and the pin, the sleeve and the roller fits. When the sprocket teeth and the chain mesh, the friction between the roller and the gear teeth is basically rolling friction. There is sliding friction between sleeve and roller, pin shaft and sleeve.
Roller chain plate is generally made into 8-shaped, so that the strength of each section is close, reducing the inertia and weight in motion.
Compared with belt drive, roller chain drive has the advantages of compact structure, small load acting on shaft, large bearing capacity, high efficiency and accurate average transmission ratio.
