Welkait sugar mill of Ethiopia is the largest overseas EPC project contracted to Chinese company of its kind, with contract amount of 0.65 billion US dollar majorly financed by Export-Import Bank of China. Located in the Welkait district of northern Ethiopia,the sugar mill has the capacity of processing 24000 tons of sugarcane per day, along with a 1550t/D sugar refining line, a 4*30 MW bagasse combined power plant and affiliated facilities for agricultural irrigation.

The completion of the project has improved local economic and agricultural sustainability,expanded local job market, and provided a solution to the country’s shortage in edible sugar.
